President's Report 1996/1997

In the spring of 1996 we set many new goals to improve our participation in the community and on the campus of LSSU. In the years past we tended to share in only the fraternity's traditional activities, created by previous members. This year many new ideas and improvements on annual events should make the year exciting and productive.

This years events will again include Halloween party, Madrigal dinner, Beach party, and Bed push. New activities consist of a haunted house, a proposed Winter Olympics, and participation in the Fourth of July parade. The Winter Olympics and Halloween party will benefit the children of Soo Township Schools and increase our awareness of the community's future. The Madrigal Dinner will assist local home health care and Bed push will again aid the Sault Ste. Marie Fireworks Fund. With a little hard work form our members and the community all of these events will exceed our high expectations.

I also visualize a large increase in membership for this year. This fall's pledge class will add enthusiastic young faces and wills to reach our final goal. The opportunity to become a well rounded local service fraternity as well as a social influence at LSSU. Hopefully the spring will produce another batch of hard-working, motivated people.

One issue I would like to address is the rumor of our Fraternity skimming money from the Bed Push collections. The rumor I received is that a large business in town doubled our donations and we proceeded to keep this money. This business did mention matching our funds raised, but the documents to finalize this proposition were never returned to the fraternity. If rumors like this continue to spread I believe we will lose the community's support for this function and the Fireworks Fund will directly suffer.
